Tour Details

While most of the people get bonkers to spend their gap year at the beaches of Thailand, you can set a statement by doing something different! The Tuk Tuk Adventure Club Tour will give you the golden opportunity to learn how to drive a Tuk Tuk and then explore Northern Thailand, which is the hilly region of the country, away from the beaches. You'll start your amazing journey from Chiang Mai and head towards the elephant village where you'll be getting ample scope to spend time with the Thai elephants and the mahouts.

Unwind amidst nature as you'll carry on with your journey to Doi Inthanon National Park and later, to little villages at the Thai-Myanmar border. This adventure tour will surely make a mark on your mind and you'll be returning back home with lots of happy memories. 



Day 1 - Arrival, Driver Training, and Temple Visit

We'll pick you up from the Chiang Mai Gate Hotel in the city and transfer you to our training base, which is at Mae Wang Valley, for the adventure ahead. You'll be getting to know your Tuk Tuk and drive it on the mountain roads. In the evening, you can chill with your fellow travelers and enjoy a Thai buffet for dinner.

Day 2 - Tuk Tuk Driving and visit to Elephant Village

After breakfast, you'll go through your driving lessons once again, before heading towards the elephant village on your Tuk Tuk! Once you arrive at the elephant village, you'll get to spend some quality time with the Thai gentle giants and their caregivers, the mahouts. You can feed the elephants, bathe them and also take them out for a walk. You'll be having your lunch at the elephant home with the mahouts. Head back to the valley resort in the evening and get prepared for the adventures ahead!

Day 3 - Head to Doi Inthanon National Park

After an early breakfast, we’re hitting the road and heading along small country roads towards Thailand’s highest mountain, Doi Inthanon. You'll be surprised at every turn - the scenic beauty will leave you awestruck! The first 20-30km of the route is simple with gentle curving roads but we soon hit stunning switch backbends, incredible scenery, and tiny Karen hill tribe villages as we make our way towards the National Park. You'll be having lunch at a roadside shack in traditional Thai style. Around mid-afternoon, we’ll arrive at your accommodation for the next two nights.

Day 4 - Get Ready to Trek

Let the Tuk Tuk rest today, as we'll go for trek inside the National Park. Walk through the jungle trails, absorb the freshness and relax by the waterfalls. Lunch is provided on the trek. Your trek guide will tell you fascinating stories and you can ask him as many questions about the place as you want!

NOTE: This trek is suitable for all as long as you’re able to walk 8-10km. You can walk at your own pace, so no need to worry!

Day 5 - Hit the Roads Again

Today, you'll  head out of Doi Inthanon National Park towards the final destination of Mae Sariang, close to the Burmese / Myanmar border. Mae Sariang is well worth exploring with friendly people, a fascinating mix of Thai and Burmese culture - so get ready to experience a cultural immersion!

Day 6 to Day 7 - Exploring The Countryside

The next destination is Mae Hong Son  - a remote, mountainous province in northern Thailand that's sparsely populated and has several ancient temples and monasteries. You'll have all the time in the world to relax and explore this region. You can go for short hikes and explore the Mae Hong Son town as well.

Day 8 to Day 9 - Head Towards Pai and Explore the Town

Pai is a small town in the Mae Hong Son Province, located on the banks of River Pai. You'll be driving your Tuk Tuk on the steepest roads today, to reach Pai, so be careful! Your accommodation is 4-5km outside the town sitting amongst rice fields. You'll be totally spellbound to see the beauty around you.
Explore the village, take a walk on the river banks, visit the temples in Pai. You can also relax at your resort or go for a swim!

Day 10 - The Final Journey Towards Mae Wang

The thrilling road trip reaches its last leg as you'll have to head back to Mae Wang. Once you reach, freshen up before we have a farewell dinner, sharing the adventures of the last 10 days and enjoying your last moments.

Day 11 - Head Back to Chiang Mai

All good things come to an end! We’ll transfer back to Chiang Mai Gate Hotel arriving around 12:30 PM.

Note: This Program is also available for 5 Days, for those who wish to spend a little lesser time. In that case, you’ll return to Chiang Mai on day 5.  You’ll enjoy breakfast at the accommodation in Doi Inthanon, say fond farewells to your Tuk Tuk and fellow travelers. Then head by private minivan back to Chiang Mai city, and reach by lunchtime.
