Can I know a little more about the Visa requirements?

You can either acquire a visa before traveling from a Tanzanian embassy or acquire one upon arrival. You can obtain single-entry and transit visas on arrival at the port of entry into Tanzania. However, multiple-entry business visas cannot be issued at the point of entry and you must obtain these in advance through Tanzania's embassies. For more info, you can refer to link
 

Can I join the program as a solo traveler or do I have to be in a group?

Whatever suits you best! It’s completely your choice whether you want to go for a soul-searching solo adventure or some roof-raising time with your bunch of BFFs, our programs accommodate will accommodate you in any which way. If you are coming in a group of more than 5, we can also provide you with customized packages as well as amazing discounts.
 

Will I get to know others in my group before I travel?

If you’re traveling alone you’ll find some awesome travel mates along the way, and if you’re coming in a group, then you’ll get a chance to add a few more crazy adventurers into your gang. Can I get some help with buying a Medical and Travel Insurance?

You need to buy your Medical and Travel Insurance before setting out for your trip. GDA also provides the insurance facilities, at an additional cost.
 

When and who will be picking me up from the Airport?

It is essential that you fly in on the scheduled project start dates and end dates to get the complimentary airport transfers, so book your flights accordingly. Many projects have different airports slated as pick-up points information about which will be included in your pre-departure kit. Your project coordinator will be picking you up, just keep your eyes peeled for a GoDiscoverAbroad Sign Card and a friendly face with a big smile on it!
 

How safe is it in Tanzania?

We’re on toes, all the time when it comes to the safety of our volunteers. Upon arrival, we will give you a comprehensive talk on the do’s and don’ts around Tanzania. We provide 24/7 volunteer support and our program coordinators are also there to assist with in any case. As with traveling anywhere you just need to use common sense. We believe that your safety depends on you to a large extent, hence you need to be just a little cautious. 
 

What are the vaccinations I need to take for traveling in Tanzania?

We advise our participants to consult with their physicians about the vaccinations/immunization and get the ones suggested. Overall it is recommended for you to take immunizations against Malaria, Typhoid and Hepatitis A&B, Cholera. Yellow Fever vaccination is a must for all travelers visiting Tanzania.

Will there be a language barrier?

Swahili is the official language of the country while English and Bantu Swahili serve as the working languages in Tanzania. Your coordinator will be fluent in English and you will also be inducted into the common local language (a few essential words and phrases really!) in your orientation sessions. So, what language barrier, really?
 

How much extra money do I need to carry?

You will need to cover your personal expenses, such as eating out, local transport, the internet, shopping, weekend trips etc. However, you should carry around 50-60 USD per week for your basic personal expenses. The amount might run higher if you choose to go on Safari trips. The cost of the safari trips varies between 300-600 USD depending on the safari option you choose.  If you’re planning on using credit/debit card in SA, it is advised to let your bank know about your travels beforehand so that they don’t suspicious of your account activity. 
 

What should I pack for my travels in Tanzania?

Casual, comfortable clothes are key when traveling in Tanzania. During the day it is hot, so it is advised to keep lightweights clothes in breathable fabrics. It is very important to note that camouflage or military clothing is not permitted. It is also best to avoid dark colors to keep yourself from attracting that extra heat when out in the daytime. Night time and early morning game drives could have a chill-factor so it's best to pack in a light sweater or some fleece shirts, scarfs etc.
