Iceland is a party to the Schengen Agreement. This means that U.S. citizens may enter Iceland for up to 90 days for tourist or business purposes without a visa. Your passport should be valid for at least three months beyond your planned date of departure from the Schengen area. If you are not from the U.S. then visit here.
Iceland maybe your only earthly chance to experience something extraterrestrial. Why, with the sun shining bright at midnight, the celestial wonder of the night skies changing colors in fluorescent shades of green, violet, and red because of the northern lights, the earth split asunder into gigantic tectonic plates, diamond beaches, and other-worldly strange landscapes, you will feel like you are dreaming of a world of high fantasy. And as soon as you think you might wake up, unusual creatures of perfection like sea whales with bird beaks and flawless puffins will recapture your imagination. Iceland is like a pocket world that is extreme in all its natural phenomena and so nonpareil in its beauty that you will have a hard time believing if it’s even real.
After getting completely overwhelmed with a stupendous sightseeing in Iceland, if you are still left with any spare time, then you can go hiking to glaciers, sailing to lagoons, snorkeling between tectonic plates, soaking up Geysir Hot Springs, visiting national parks and waterfalls, and hoping to see a volcano explode. No matter how much you explore Iceland, it will never fail to startle you with a sweep-you-off-your-feet surprise.
