Spring is the time to paint the town red especially when nature is already doing it, it’s important to keep up. To travel during springtime is when the opportunity to see the beauty blooming across different corners of the world arises. From dazzling festival of lights in Valencia, Spain to festival of colors “Holi” in India, springtime is truly the time to travel around. Like it’s rightly said, “Ah, the sweet smell of spring. It’s such a refreshing time! The warm sunshine feels so good on our skin and melts away our winter blues. Colorful blooms are popping up, and it’s the perfect time to start planting the garden.”

1. Spain 


From music festivals mushrooming all over the country in Spring to fiery and dazzling festivals of light, Spain is all colors and bloom in Spring. The week-long Las Fallas festival in Valencia sees a wide display of papier-mâché sculptures are spectacularly set ablaze. During Easter week (Semana Santa), traditional processions take place in Seville and Malaga, among other cities. The fiestas in Spring make Spain worth a visit. The natural scenery too is at its best - the beaches, the mountains, the plains, the forests - all of them bid goodbye to the winter chills by February and are ideal to take strolls in. Southern Spain, which is warmer also has some stunning beaches to soak in the sun and get tanned. 


2. Iceland 


Yes we know Iceland has the “ice” in its name and what possibly be in store in a country which is so much about “ice”. 7. India


India, being a tropical country, gets very hot in summers but February-March is the time when the weather is the most pleasant. Known for its spring festival of colors - Holi - travelers looking for a truly special spring abroad should head to India and celebrate Holi with the locals. While the capital city, Delhi, celebrates Holi was exuberance, the especially well-known Holi is celebrated in Vrindavan. 


8. Thailand 


The ‘Land of Smiles’ welcomes its new year in April and that’s a beautiful time to visit the country. The Thai capital, Bangkok, along with other prominent Thai cities celebrates Songkran with elaborate festivities between April 13th and April 15th. The official opening ceremony is held at Wat Pho, one of the most important Buddhist temples in Thailand and home to a spectacular, giant gold-plated reclining Buddha. Water is an important element of Songkran, especially in more recent times when the throwing of water has become a huge part of the annual celebrations. If you’re visiting Thailand during this period don’t be surprised if you get splashed, much like the colorful water splash during Holi in India. 

Crowds of people roam around throwing buckets of water, using water pistols and just generally soaking anyone in the vicinity. Appreciation of family is another important aspect of the festival, with many Thai people making their way to their hometowns to spend time with older relatives. Buddhists also visit temples throughout Songkran where water is poured on Buddha images and on the hands of Buddhist monks as a mark of respect. Street food, cultural celebrations and traditional performances are also an important part of Songkran in this part of northern Thailand. Of course, there’s also the customary water throwing.


9. Morocco 


The climate in Morocco is as varied as its diverse geography. An exceptionally good time to visit Morocco is in the spring season. The diverse topography of the region - that includes deserts and mountains - is away from the clutches of a very cold winter and a hot summer and it’s ideal to meander around the lit streets of the country. Average temperatures in the coastal cities range from 64-82 °F, that makes it the ideal time to visit the High Atlas mountains (near Marrakech) to marvel at the greenery. The rich abundance of fields and mountain slopes with flowering trees - apples, cherries, almonds and pomegranates - and the abundance of orange poppies, flag irises and of course roses. In addition, the snowmelt from the mountain peaks form temporary rivers and enhance the waterfalls.
