About The Package

Peru is a beautiful picturesque country in South America which makes it very popular among tourists that is why Peru receives thousand of tourists every year. Go Discover Abroad provides the opportunity not only to travel this country but also make a difference by working with the local community. we provide program placement in a school where you will work with mentally challanged and deaf students. The program placement is located in and around Cusco city. The age range of students varies between 3 - 20 years. 

Volunteers work Monday to Friday 5 days a week for 5 - 6 hours in a day and you can roam around city by yourself if you want after your working hours.

Volunteers role depends on their comfort level. If you think you can lead a class then you will work independently or you can also play a role of assistant to local teachers at the placement. 

Please Note: Reservations for the Inca trail have to be made well in advance. Daily 500 persons are allowed to participate including hikers, guides and porters. You can ask us for information on availability.

Day 1

Arrival in Cusco

Upon arrival at Cusco International Airport you will be greeted by our representative who would take you to the accommodaiton. On this day, you can relax or take a walk around your accommodation. 
Day 2

After breakfast you would be given orientation about your program placement. Our representative will accompany you to the placement vanue and will introduce you the placement staff where you will start your program. Volunteers usually work 5 - 6 hours in a day.
Day 3 - 6

Volunteer Work

We provide program placement in a school where you will work with mentally challanged and deaf students. Volunteers role depends on their comfort level. If you think you can lead a class then you will work independently or you can also play a role of assistant to local teachers at the placement. 
Day 7

Cusco - Piscacucho 82 KM - Wayllabamba

We'll pick you up from your hotel at 6:00 in the morning to depart by bus toward the Sacred valley, the Urubamba River, tiny Andean towns passing through beautiful landscape of the highlands to then arrive to Inca town of Ollantaytambo. The trip from Cusco to Piscacucho takes approximately 3 hours. 

With passports in hands, we pass the official Inca Trail control to begin our trek with a gentle climb to  find the first Inca site, this will be Llaqtapata, after the information of our guide we'll continue walking to Wayllabamba our first camping site where we'll rest this first day.
Day 8

Wayllabamba - Warmiwañusca - Pacaymayo

After breakfast approximately at 06:30 in the morning we will continue our route passing through beautiful landscapes and several valleys and up to the surrounding snow-covered peaks. This second day is the most difficult day due to the longest hours of trekking for approximately six or seven hours. So, during the first four hours will be pure up hill, in this part we'll find hundreds of steps mixed with a typical flora, small trees and bushes, before arrive to the highest point "the Warmiwañusca pass", (4200 m.a.s.l), from this place we'll find a beautiful landscape, Here, you will have a tremendous feeling of achievement mixed with relief on reaching the top. After lunch we will continue to Pacaymayo where you will rest and have dinner.
Day 9

Pacaymayo - Puya Patamarka - Wiñaywayna

This day we'll find many Inca sites, we'll start remembering the second day, because the first part will be uphill (max. 2 hours), to arrive to the second pass of the trail at 3,850 m.a.s.l., walking up we'll find the archaeological site of Runkurakay from this place you'll have a nice view of the Pacaymayu Valley, crossing the second pass, we'll continue walking down to the Inca site of Sayacmarka one of the greatest place of the road finding other small inka sites on our way, we'll pass by one tunnel (please bring headlamps), in the half way we'll have lunch and we'll have time to rest. The final destination this day will be the camping site of Wiñaywayna where we'll rest this third night.
Day 10

Wiñaywayna - Machu Picchu - Cusco

We will get up around 4:00 in the morning to get to Inti Punku (the Sun Gate), overlooking Machu Picchu for the first rays of the sunrise. This will be a hike of 1-2 hours, with significant upward stretches in the last half. You will be hiking in darkness (headlamp is mandatory) where you will have the most impressive panoramic view of the citadel. Upon arrival at Machu Picchu, two hours guided tour around the citadel, visiting the main sites and monuments. You have free time to walk around the Sanctuary for four hours. In the afternoon we'll take a train two hours to Ollantaytambo then we'll bring you back by bus to Cusco, upon arrival in Cuzco transfer to your hotel.
Day 11

Departure from Cusco

Transfer to Cusco International Airport as per your flight schedule.
