When you travel to any local or foreign destination, one of the most essential things to do before your scheduled trip is to plan. Planning is part of preparation. Most successful trips abroad are a product of proper planning. If you don’t plan, it is like you are skipping 50 percent of the preparation for your trip. People have their own way of planning. Some people plan their scheduled trip as soon as they are sure about travelling. Many make plans as their trip draws near.  Then there are still others who don’t care about planning their trip at all. A seasoned traveler can tell the importance of planning.

ThailandBudh

If you are to have a gap year travel to Thailand, planning can help you enjoy a successful and smooth-sailing travel experience. If you are not sure about how to plan, here are some tips on how to plan:

1. Plan when to go.

Thailand can be visited anytime of the year. However, during the summer months which are considered peak season for its tourism industry, most of its attractions can be very crowded with people and costly. If you like more space to move around, it would be best to travel to Thailand during off-peak season such as from August to November, than from January to May.

2. Plan where to go.

ThailandCity

There are several major cities in Thailand such as Chiang Mai and Bangkok where most of the tourist attractions are located. You should properly plan out your destination so that you will be able to visit more attractions in the country. You could schedule a visit first to the capital city of Bangkok and visit the major points of interest in the city and its surrounding areas. You can then make Chiang Mai as your next destination and explore the city before your trip back home. If you stay longer in Thailand, you can visit more cities and tourist attractions.

3. Plan what to do.

Aside from sightseeing, Thailand is also known for unique activities such as elephant trekking, bungee jumping, shopping in the floating market, and many others. It is also known for its delicious dishes. You should definitely try these things as they are authentic Thai offerings.

4. Plan what to bring.

Finally, you should plan what to bring on your trip. As a rule of the thumb, it is recommended to travel light. Doing so will give you more comfort and convenience when getting around in Thailand especially when riding via public transportation. Travelling light also allows you to bring more souvenir items when you go home.

5. Put your plans into writing.

Thailand

Unless your memory is really good, there is a big tendency that you will forget what you planned for unless you put it into writing.

When you have a scheduled gap year travel to Thailand, planning is an essential factor for the success of your trip. Additionally, book your travel with a reputable travel agency such as Go Discover Abroad. Travel agencies assist travelers in making plans for their trip. Some can even arrange all the details of your trip.

Croatia has become a very popular destination for beach goers.  Beaches with crystal clear waters and silky fine sands ooze romantic appeal, while the sheer number of islands and bays in this country mean that many beaches are not overrun, and remain quiet places where one can find tranquillity.  Not many countries can boast that they have a beach to suit every type of beach goer, but Croatia certainly can.

It would be impossible to cover every beautiful beach the country has to offer.  Not all are easily accessible (though the more adventurous traveller should certainly seek them out!) and there are so many to choose from.  But the beaches below should give you a very nice picture of what your next beach getaway could look like.

Best Croatian Beaches

If you are after a romantic picture perfect sort of beach then Lovrečina Bay on Brač Island would be your pick.  The cove is situated on the northern part of the island, it is sandy with clear gin water in view, set against a hilly backdrop with olive groves and ancient ruins of the 5th and 6th century.  It is absolutely stunning.  One would imagine the place being overrun if not for the fact that parking is limited and public transport is not easily negotiated.

For a beach that gives you a feeling of isolation, a sort of desert island get away, the tiny island of Susak is a great place to go.  It takes time to get there, as it is a ferry ride away from the main island Mali Lošinj.  There are two worthy beaches here, the Spiaza and Bok bay.  Spiaza is curvy and shallow, where you can relax with some wading before getting to deep enough water for a swim.

Those travelling with children looking for something more family friendly would have a great day out at Bačvice beach at Split.  This beach is very popular with locals, as it is a great social hub due to the local cafes and pavilions at reasonable prices so your Croatian kuna will go far.

Beaches can be a healing place for some, and the Kraljičina plaža (Queen’s Beach) at Nin does exactly that – both spiritually and physically.  The beach is long and the sand stretches to the horizon.  The area behind Kraljičina plaza also boasts mud that is rich in a compound effective for natural muscular or joint treatment.

It would be impossible not to mention Hvar somewhere here, because it is such a popular destination.  It has the lovely Uvala Dubovica beach for those looking for reprieve from the crowds.  Uvala Dubovica is pebbly beach with shallow waters set beside a historic manor house.

Beaches are plentiful in Croatia.  The above ideas are just the starting point!

You are going on a vacation and you probably need to get as much things as you can in order to be prepared for everything that may happen. Sounds fantastic, but is this really as easy as it sounds? So, what bag should you take in order to get everything you need with you – a suitcase, a small bag or a backpack? What material should it be made of? Let’s try to find out.

Bag

The material

There is a great variety of bags, backpacks and suitcases you can choose from. Some of them are made of real or imitation leather, other of waterproof, coated or vinyl fabrics, and even plastic. Most of us know leather bags and suitcases pretty well, but unfortunately, they have their disadvantages. Imitation leather is not very durable and is easily ruined, and real leather is too expensive. The bags and suitcases made of real leather also have another disadvantage – often they are too heavy.

There are some practical travel bags made of special vinyl material, which is light, not very expensive and waterproof. The next thing that makes these bags used by so many people is the fact there is a great variety of bags of all shapes, forms and sizes, which can help you find the best one for you.

Another option is to choose suitcases made of plastic. This way you can be sure that all your belongings will be safe, but there are two main disadvantages – plastic suitcases don’t have any extra department and are pretty expensive, especially the high-quality ones.

The size

The other thing you need to be aware of when choosing a proper bag for your vacation is your own height and physique. Try to use a non-standard approach that, however, gives excellent results. The width of the bag or the suitcase must be equal to your shoe number; its length must be about one third of your height and its height must be approximately equal to the length of your arm from your wrist to your elbow. These guidelines are considered to be very helpful in order to make you choose the perfect bag, suitcase or backpack for your vacation.

When you are buying a backpack, you need to make sure that its straps and belts are strong enough. In addition, they should not be too wide or too narrow, and it is a good idea to choose a model that has some locking mechanisms that usually make the straps and belts more secure. In addition, this reduces the load on your shoulders and the upper part of your spine.

How to choose the right suitcase for you?

No matter how crazy it may seem, every one of us who was thinking of taking just a T-shirt and a pair of jeans for their vacation ended up with at least a medium-sized suitcases. And here comes the main problem – when should we choose a suitcase and what type of suitcase we need to buy.

Suitcases are suitable in cases when you have planned a long-distance vacation where you would stay for at least a week. Suitcases are also the best decision in case you are going to travel with a plane, because they are way more durable than other bags.

So, according to your personal taste, needs and requirements you may choose from a great variety of shapes, forms and sizes. We recommend you not to choose too small or too big suitcase, but a medium-sized one, because it is more practical. Finding the best material for your suitcase is mainly a matter of personal choice and preference, but have in mind that every fabric has its own pros and cons. In any way, try to choose a suitcase that has multiple pockets and departments, which will help you find the proper place for everything you need. And last, but not least, we recommend you to choose a material that is reliable and think enough.

How to choose the right backpack for you?

No matter if you are going hitch-hiking or camping, the best choice for you would be a backpack. Small bags and suitcases are not suitable in this case, so you need to choose the best backpack for you according to some features:

  • a waterproof material – this is not a mandatory requirement, of course, but if you want to choose a reliable backpack, you need to be careful;
  • zips – the more, the better;
  • many departments – every reliable backpack needs a lot of departments in order to give you the opportunity to put everything in its place;
  • a belt or straps around your waist – this will make the backpack lighter and will reduce the load on your shoulders and the upper part of your spine.
